Disability Awareness Week

Disability is not a 'brave struggle' or ‘courage in the face of adversity’. Disability is an art. It’s an ingenious way to live.

What’s your take on Red Square? As part of Every Body Freeze, Now: Flash Mob for Disability Awareness, we are collecting short descriptions of how you experience Red Square as a public common space on the UW campus.

We are looking for a variety of responses – short, long; literal, poetic –to invite people to think more critically about the space and to reflect on how and why we engage with the square (or avoid it).

You can use these questions as a starting point, but feel free to personalize your description.

Do you have a usual pathway across the square?
Or do you even use it?
If so, what draws you to it?
What associations do you have with the square?

Your statement will be incorporated in the flash mob event.
